Vox is open to all. The closed beta for Vox ended today (well, yesterday, but I don't think of the day as having changed until I sleep). According to the Team Vox blog:
There are over 85,000 people currently on Vox who are incredibly active (which is what really matters). That’s a lot of people for a gated invite-only system that has had controlled growth.
Wow. That is a lot! Nice work Team!
They've worked really hard to develop some groovy new features there. I hear that many of those features will be ported over into the TypePad app soon or soonish, so I've been keeping a (slightly envious) eye on what's been going on in Vox-land.
I've been impressed since early in the open beta when I first gave it a test drive. I haven't really done much blogging there since, but I do sign in sometimes to see what other folks in my Vox neighborhood are up to. Every time I swing by, I see new cool things… whether they're updates, or just features I hadn't noticed before.
If you haven't tried Vox yet, go sign up for free and see what you think! It's not the solution for all blogging needs (I wouldn't start a business blog there, nor anything that required total design control) but it is a great place for beginners, for people who want a personal blog, and especially for people who blog to stay in touch with friends and family or who are looking for ways to meet new people online.
There's some concern being voiced among the current regulars there as to what will happen when the floodgates open. So be nice when you visit…
Congrats to Team Vox and Six Apart on the public launch!
