MajikWidget creates and hosts a library of widgets that you can use to extend your blog's capabilities. They have an interesting model going… when you sign up, you get an automatic 25 credits to let you try out the service and see if you like it. In addition, if you head over today and sign up for the First Mover Advantage Club, they'll deposit 100 additional free credits into your account. Each time you use a widget your account is debited one credit. You can purchase additional credits in quantities of 500 for $25 or 1000 for $50.
There are a couple things that seem really exciting about this launch. The first is that they take requests… you can suggest a widget and they will build it for you. What's even cooler, is the idea of "Linkware". As explained on their request page:
Linkware allows other users who use your suggested widget to setup an automatic link-back to your blog from your widget. Of course we'd never force users to do this, but it is quite the respectable thing to do.
As of today, there are three widgets available for use:
- Post Rating Widget
- Polling Widget
- All Links in New Browser Window
I'll be trying out some of the widgets here in the next couple days. The instructions on their site for adding the source code are a wee bit minimal, so I'll be playing with that as well. I'll provide a more detailed tutorial on how to add the code when I'm sure I've got the best solution.
Check their blog for announcements, early tech support and information. They will also be adding blogs that use MajikWidgets to their blogroll as examples of the service.
Here's a few screen shots of currently available widgets from their site:

Julie says:
This is great. I have tried other polls, but I haven't found anything I liked. I do an 'Imagine If Friday' on my blog each week and this worked perfect for it.
